OSA Reimeiki

Random chain stories about random teens in a super random old school. 96% fiction! Because we want to take a break from studying all the time.

"Oh Johnny-kins! There you are, I've been looking all over for you!"

Emiri extricates herself from her two friends who had rushed at each other blindly, not caring that Emiri was still in the middle of their crushing hug. With a sigh of relief, she leaves the two alone to their 'activities'. Which they really shouldn't have been doing in the middle of an OSA hallway...

(I mean, Rock Band? Seriously? "The drums are blocking the hallway, John. Your headbanging is getting far too intense, Jessica. You don't want to land yourself, or the ice cream cake, in hot water." >inside joke reference to Jessica Li's blonde moment<)

Emiri walks up the stairs, intending to find Diya and talk to her about her really, really weird dream. Or... at least, she thought it was a dream.

Halfway up the second flight, she notices two strange figures huddled in a corner near a fake tree. She uses her ninja abilities to sneak closer undetected and hears some snatches of conversation.

"Toss me your lighter."
"Sure, don't drop it."
"Thanks."
The distinct click of a lighter is heard.

Suddenly, Emiri's vision is blinded by puffs of smoke. Coughing, wheezing, and hacking, she waves them away and steps into the open, ready to apprehend the smoker.
"Hey! What do you thing you're doing?!"
No reply, followed by another long draw on a cigarette.

Emiri squints past the clouds of smoke to identify the smoker.
She gasps, "No way! You?! I can't be--"
Emiri is interrupted by a voice from above [the stairs].

------------------- P.O.V. Switch!-----------------

I'm walking down the hall from the third floor when I see the plumes of smoke. Shaking my head, I think, "I can't believe it. First her house almost burns down because of her habit, then she's sick for a week because of her poor respiratory system, and yet, she's still smoking. At school, no less."
I yell down, "Hey! You know, you really should stop that. And Anna, it's bad enough to have one of you, stop trying to get others to join you."
Anna scowls and replies, "Bad enough to have one of me? What's that supposed to mean, huh? You wanna start something? Do you? Huh? Huh?!"
Sean's voice randomly pipes up, "Hey! Stop calling my name!" He leaves the scene.
Another voice, which I identify as Emiri, speaks up, "Whoa, calm down there, uhh, what was your name again? Anna?"
Anna snarls, "That's right. And don't you forget it."

I comment, "Why so glum, chum? You aren't usually this surly."
With a sudden mood swing, Anna sighs forlornly and replies, "Oh, you know... it's that time of month again."
"Oh, that's right, first Tuesday of every month, how could I have forgotten?"
Emiri stares at me a bit strangely.
I shrug, "I have to know these things you know. So I can keep tabs on Anna and make sure she doesn't get caught."
Emiri just stares at me blankly, stuttering, "But... you know... isn't that... kind of... I don't know..."
I shrug and turn back to Anna, "So, you overdosed?"
Anna sighs, "Yep. I just can't seem to help myself."
Emiri is more confused than ever. "Wait... you overdosed on... painkillers?"

With that, I come to a sudden realization of why Emiri was confused and what she thought we were talking about. To clear things up, I ask Anna, "Your monthly shipment of 'stuff' has arrived?"
She switches moods again and snarls back, "Didn't I just say that? UGH!"
"The 'stuff' does weird things to Anna when she does too many at once," I direct towards Emiri.

A look of dawning realization lights up Emiri's face. No, not in the same way Anna's eyes light up when... you know.

And finally, I turn to apprehend the smoker, "Really now, stop smoking before you land yourself in serious trouble."
Maria grumbles, "Fine." And she tosses her cigarette out of the window. Where it lands on someone's head. And that person starts screaming.

"Diya?!"
I was left standing in the darkness staring at the heavy silver doors that had just closed. It's kinda hard to comprehend all of this strangeness that had just happened within such a short time. It feels similar to taking a reading comprehension test and being faced with 3 very good WRONG answers and one right answer. You think, and think, and think ... till you realize that you have spent 20 minutes fuming about one question then you realize that there was a 5th answer that said "none of the above".
So that leads me to believe that whatever I saw behind the two shiny doors are just a figment of my imagination. Life problems are so easy compared to the stuff on ELA tests. Now.... to get out of this place. Lucky, after some jumping around I found the trapdoor and hauled myself through it.
Mr.Ho's classroom was still dark when I reemerged so with some fumbling around (and some crashing into desks) I managed to find the door and escape ... into the very person that I was running from in the first place.
"Jessica I have found you at last." sighed Lorenz- ... I mean John.
I smacked him of course .... only Diya knows why he is acting like this ....
"For the last time, I *smack* AM *smack* NOT *smack* JESSICA *smack smack smack*"
And praise whoever is watching over me cause he finally lets go and realizes that who he is holding is definitely not his love interest but someone who is going to deal a heck of a lot more pain if he didn't back off.
"You're not Jessica." he stated with a slightly surprised expression.
"No REAAALY ."
"Really? Does that mean you are?" he readies himself to pounce on me again.
"No!!!" At that moment, fate seemed to pity me because Jessica, the REAL Jessica, walked out of the girls washroom.
John paused ... sniffed the air ... and turned ever so slowly around.
"JESSICA!!!!"

The door to Mr. Ho's room swung open. "Hello?" the person called out, groping for the light switch. "Anybody there?"
CLICK. The light came on. No one was in the room, and everything was in place.
"Hmm, I thought I heard intruder," the newly-hired, foreign janitor shrugged. He grabbed his mop and turned off the light switch. He left the room.

If he had turned around to check the room one more time after he turned off the lights, he would have seen a mysterious handle appear on the floor near the back of the room. Buuuut, he didn't. So he didn't see it. =)

Emiri rubbed her head. "Ow!" she complained. "Falling through voids hurts!" She got up and dusted herself off. She looked around, until the giant, metal, double doors in front of her caught her eye.
"Where am I?" she wondered. All of a sudden, one of the two doors swung open slightly. Not a single sliver of light escaped from the inside.
"Weeeird." Emiri opened the door wider and steps inside.
"Hello? Echo!" she called out, trying to feel her way around in the darkness. It appeared that she was an a large, almost empty room with few walls in it, something like a warehouse. She peered around a corner, and saw a light at the far end of a room.
Her instincts told her to go towards the light! "I must obey!" Emiri tiptoes over to the light.
As she approached it, she recognized that the light was coming from a computer screen, accompanied with the tap, tap, tap of keys being pressed furiously.
A few meters from the screen, Emiri is able to discern a silhouette sitting on a high-backed swivel chair, typing away.
---------
I didn't notice anyone entering my warehouse, because I was so absorbed in my work. I didn't expect anyone to, of course, seeing how cleverly I had hidden the trapdoors to it.
I had been typing up a new story when I heard almost-silent footsteps behind me. Only my cyborg hearing picked up the sound.

Pause for a second. Yes, I am a cyborg. Not completely, mind you, I just have some cyborg parts. An accident a few years ago caused me to get cyborg legs, but it turned out so well that the scientists decided to give me a few other parts. I don't normally use my cyborg parts in the real world, but here in my warehouse, it's safe. Now, back to the action.

I whirled around on my chair to apprehend the intruder, fingertips falling together in a characteristic motion.
"Who are you and what are you doing here?!" I snarled.
The intruder stumbled back. "I-I didn't mean to intrude, I just fell through a trapdoor in Mr. Ho's room."
Shocked, I looked up, "What?! I didn't put a portal there! What kind of a system glitch is this?!"
I rubbed the back of my neck, and said, "Look, you're in my private warehouse. I'll give you the way out if you promise never to tell anyone. ANYONE."
"Ok, ok, I promise!"
"Good." I get out of my chair and walk over to the intruder. "Follow me," I say.

She follows. "Uhh, can we turn on some lights or something?"
"No! Lights disturb the balance of zen I have carefully created in my warehouse. Just 'feel' you way out."
"Umm, sure. 'Feel' my way out."

We arrive at my main portal. I point to it, "This is the portal I've created which will return you back to where you arrived, in Mr. Ho's room. Although it really shouldn't, because I didn't even place a portal there in the first place."
"Uhh sure. Whatever you say."
I sigh. This person did not understand the majesty, the genius of my inventions. Oh well, can't win 'em all.

"There you go!" I opened the portal, revealing a hazy purplish-green glow. The intruder stepped in with a quick word of thanks. I nodded my head in response and pressed the button to close the portal.

Right before the doors closed and the faint light disappeared, I caught a glimpse of the intruder's face. "Emiri?!"
She snapped her head around, "Diya?!"

The doors closed.

In the calm and orderly hallways of OSA, where the walls alternate between peeling white paint and chipped brick, one would find students, and teachers and the occasional janitor lurking the hallways. Nothing out of the ordinary here. Nope, nothing at all. Till one day, a hyperactive little girl (well not so little anymore, maybe about 5"4', asian, glasses, dark hair, asian, ocassionally carries around a TI-89 around with her in her backpack, around the age of 14, asian ...) named Emiri sought a place to hide from her persuer. Why she was running from someone is unknown but knowing her... well there is always a reason. Thundering down the creeky stairs at such a high speed may not have been a good idea for the girl as she landed haphazardly in front of a door marked with "Do Not Enter". A sudden idea popped into her ever so OSA bright head to go and hid in THAT room. After all, if it was marked with "Do Not Enter", no one is supposed to enter right? With a quick glance around the hall she quickly opened the door and darted inside. She had decided not to turn on the lights because of the fear that it may show at the bottom of the door. Thus lead her to explore the room in darkness. She told herself there was nothing to fear because it was just a classroom but with every step there came a loud groan of the floorboards under her. Emiri of course became frightened and stories of the Fail monster came rushing through her head. While imagining the Fail monster and it's ugly red "99.9%" gruesomeness she paid no attention to where she was going and promptly caught her foot on a latch of sorts on the ground. She fell to the floor with a catastrauphic sound. When she recovered from the fall, Emiri was left wondering why would there be a latch on the floor of Mr. Ho's classroom that she had never noticed before. Getting up, she walked slowly back to where she felt her foot catch on the latch and pulled on the handle. A trap door swung open and it lead to ... even more blackness. Then the door to Mr. Ho's room opened and in her fright, Emiri toppled into the black void.
