The elevator shudders to a stop on the first floor with a slightly muffled "ping".
"That's strange..." Diya forces the door open and drags Anna out by the collar of her shirt, unintentionally choking off her maniac giggles. Shaking her head in exasperation, Diya continues to lurch out into the main hall with her drugged victim in tow. "She'll be immune to this dosage size in a day at this rate."
The two struggle down the hallway in direction of the basketball court entrance only to hear a loud yelp, then thunder that can only be attributed to several people falling down a flight of stairs. Anna, excitedly, frees herself from Diya's grasp and hurls herself into the tumult with a loud thud.
"Why the HECK did we just turn this way?"
"You pushed me!"
"CHEESEBUNS!"
"What? If I set someone on fire, I'd rather not meet up with them right now...get your foot out of my face!"
"JESSICA! Snuggle-wump, are you hurt?!?!"
"Dude, I'm Nicole..."
"Whoops. JESSICA?!"
"Over here, Johnny-kins!"
"Get OFF ME, you CRETINOUS...!"
Diya slowly, dramatically, descends the stairs, looking amusedly at the pile of injured people. "Maria, a new record for you. First you set some person on fire, then you manage to cripple..." She cranes her neck to discover a pair of legs protruding from the slightly ajar doorway to Mr. Ho's classroom. "Six more?"
"Six?" Nicole tries to stand up but is more or less pinned by Catherine, who is busy punishing Anna for the misfortune of landing on her. "I'm pretty sure there were more of us than that..." She looks around to count, cringing slightly at the sight of John and Jessica's reunion. "Where's Em-"
"Who's in here?" Maria coughs, ignoring Diya's I-told-you-smoking-will-kill-you death glare, and hobbles into Mr.Ho's eerily lit classroom. The door, now fully open, lets a purple-green light wash lightly into the dim basement.
However, the others are preoccupied with the sunlight streaming in from the upstairs windows, illuminating yet another person standing at the top of the stairs. Contrast makes their silhouette practically unrecognizable...except for the crown of their head and shoulders, which are covered in glowing embers.
